Popular actor Sadika Parvin Popy has finally broken her silence. She expressed her regret for her unfinished films and also apologised.
Speaking to the media, Popy recently acknowledged that multiple films remain incomplete. “Not two, but a few more of my films are stalled. I’m sincerely sorry for this. Producers are in trouble because of me. But not all decisions in life are always in your hands,” she said, adding that the hiatus arose from personal circumstances rather than intent.
Popy, once one of Dhallywood’s most bankable stars, has been away from acting for more than five years. She was last seen in a video message during the 2022 Film Artistes’ Association polls. Earlier this year, she revealed details of her marriage and children following family disputes, sparking speculation that stalled productions might resume. However, until now, she had avoided addressing the issue directly.
“I have never put anyone in danger, I have not harmed anyone,” she said. “If the opportunity arises, I will finish the unfinished work. Otherwise, there is nothing to do but apologise to the producers. I hope they do not misunderstand, please forgive me.” Among the projects affected are “Bhalobasar Projapoti” and “Kathgorai Saratchandra”.
Looking ahead, Popy indicated that a return to acting is unlikely, but she remains open to working behind the camera. She has previously produced films, and while no new projects have been confirmed, she signalled continued interest in film production.
