Bangladesh is going to host business meeting and road show for apparel industry in India from Thursday considering the neighbouring country as major source of synthetic fiber for garment.

BGMEA along with ‘Confederation of Indian Textile Industries (CITI)’ is organising two ‘Textile Sourcing Meets’ and road shows in India from February 9 to 12.

“There will be held textile sourcing meeting and road show in association

with Indian counterparts,” Shahidullah Azim, vice president at Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) told Daily Sun on Tuesday.

Industrialists have been shifting to man-made fiber for the past two years amid increasing demand of synthetic products in global market.

The apex trade body leaders mentioned that the factory owners of Bangladesh are considering India as a new source of raw material – synthetic fibers – for the garment industry.

A delegation from the garment sector including BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and vice-president Shahidullah Azim will participate in the business meet.
