Colleges and well-wishers on Sunday recalled the contribution of journalist Peer Habibur Rahman who had proven himself through his analytical reports and articles.

He died on February 5 in 2022 at age of 57. He had been serving as the executive editor of Bangladesh Pratidin.

Marking his first death anniversary, a commemorative meeting was held at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Members of Parliament AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah, and Shamim Haider Patwary were present as the guest of honour while Bangladesh Pratidin Executive Editor Abu Taher presided over the event.

At the meeting, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam remembered the days with his long time colleague, Peer Habibur.

“Peer Habib had in-depth knowledge of political landscape in the country. He enriched journalism through his excellent write-ups,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul said Peer Habib had shown the path for young journalists in doing political analysis.

Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Ekattor TV Managing Director Mozammel Babu, senior journalists Tanzib Ahmed Chowdhury and Rafiqul Islam Ratan, and Bangladesh Pratidin Deputy Editor Mahmud Hasan were also present at the meeting.

Besides, Peer Habib’s wife Diana Naznin, son Ahnaff Fahmin Antor and classmate Jakirul Haque also shared the golden days of the noted commentator.
