CHAPAINAWABGANJ: At the rise of temperature mango trees have started sprouting in the district.
At present very favourable weather is prevailing for flowering, Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Regional Horticulture Research Station (RHRS) in Chapainawabganj Dr Mokhlesur Rahman said.
If bad weather like fog, cloud or rain does not occur till bearing fruits, a bumper production of mangoes may be expected, he added.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), there are 28,26,648 mango trees in the district. Of them, 3,95,138 mango tree are in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, 15,15,060 trees in Shibganj upazila, 3,10,430 trees in Gomostapur upazila, 3,52,200 trees in Nachole upazila and 2,53,820 trees in Bholahat upazila.
The sources added that last year the production of mango was 3,13,736 tonnes in the district.
