The Bangladesh Football Federation appointed the former referees’ director of the All India Football Federation and FIFA, AFC Match Commissioner Col Goutam Kar as their referees’ consultant for two years.
Goutam arrived in Dhaka and took his charges on Thursday, said the federation in a press release on Saturday.
Goutam earlier worked as the AIFF referees’ director for seven years from 2011 to 2018. He also worked as the referees’ director of the Bhutan FF for two years and was in the same position at the All Nepal Football Federation for one year.
Goutam also played a vital role to set up the AIFF Referees’ Department in 2011.
Apart from these, he has been working as the AIFF national instructor since 1997, AFC instructor since 1999 and FIFA, AFC match commissioner since 2011. He conducted 297 matches including a total of 19 FIFA U-17 World Cup matches.
“I want to focus on the Bangladesh Referees Department system that will lead to quantity and quality in the long run,” Goutam said.
