Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) president Barrister Md. Sameer Sattar called for introduction of automation of the application and renewal process of trade licence including online fee submission through an integrated payment gateway.
He also proposed to establish a booth at DCCI to provide trade licence service on behalf of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) or sign a memorandum of understaning (MoU) for this purpose.
The DCCI Board of Directors led by its Md. Sameer Sattar called on Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh at Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka on Thursday.
During the discussion, DCCI chief also requested the Mayor to consider issuance of trade licences to the young startups who do not have any commercial address but do their businesses from home or online.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Taposh said that after effective implementation of National Payment Gateway, the people will be able to pay trade license fees online soon.
He also proposed that a seven-day long camp can be organised at the DCCI office so that the businesspeople, especially the DCCI members, can avail the facilities of trade licence renewal from the chamber.
In this regard, the idea of signing of an MoU with DCCI is welcomed, he said.
He said that for creating a business and investment friendly environment, “we will make Dhaka a smart city.”
DSCC Mayor later informed the officials that they will take initiative to establish an IT-based traffic signal system in the city to avoid traffic congestion.
