Senior Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Tofazzel Hossain Miah has been appointed as principal secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He will replace Ahmad Kaikaus who has recently been appointed as alternate executive director of World Bank.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
The contract of Ahmed Kaikaus as principal secretary will expire tomorrow.
He will represent Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka in the World Bank.
Tofazzel started career in the civil service in 1991 and since then, he played a major role in government’s policy and decision making by working at several important offices.
Born in 1964 in Pirojpur district, he obtained B.A and Master’s degrees in English literature from Dhaka University. He also got Master’s degree on early childhood development from BRAC University.
Tofazzel had received training in Project Management and Governance in the UK, Vietnam and India.
He is a syndicate member of Jahangirnagar University, Sheikh Hasina University Netrokona and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology.
Besides, he is serving as a board member of Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL), Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Limited (BAT), Grameen Bank, Hotel Internationals and Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX).
