CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court on Saturday placed Abir Ali on two-day remand in a case filed for the murder of child Ayat.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saddam passed the remand after the investigator of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced Abir Ali, the lone accused of the murder case, before the court seeking 10-day remand for him, said Inspector Ilias Khan of the PBI.
Sources said Ayat went missing after coming out her residence on November 15.
The victim’s father lodged a general diary (GD) in this connection.
On information, police arrested Abir from the Pocket Gate area of Nayahat on Thursday afternoon.
During primary interrogation, Abir admitted that he abducted Ayat in a planned way for ransom.
As the child screamed for help during the abduction, he strangled her and took her to his residence nearby. He cut the body into six pieces and later dumped the parts into the sea, police said.
