A confident Bangladesh national women’s team will be eyeing to seal their final berth when they take on Bhutan in the first semifinal of the ongoing sixth edition of the SAFF Women’s Championship at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal today.

The match will kick off at 01:15pm (BST) and T Sports will telecast the game live.

Women booters have enjoyed a dream run in the tournament so far as they beat their three Group A opponents – Maldives, Pakistan and India convincingly – and moved to the semifinal as group champions.

On their way to the semifinal, Bangladesh scored 12 goals while they didn’t even concede a single goal.

Meanwhile, Bhutan finished runners-up in Group B after earning three points from two matches.

Group B champions Nepal will take on Group A runners-up India in the second semifinal later on the same day.

Prior to the match against Bhutan, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton warned his charges not to take their opponents lightly.

“We respect Bhutan because they have come to this stage by proving their worth...There is no question of taking them (Bhutan) lightly. My girls will fight with all their efforts to snatch victory against Bhutan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Sabina Khatun said that they would give their maximum effort to book a place in the final.

Bangladesh previously reached the final of the SAFF Women’s Championship only once in 2017 where they had to finish runners-up after losing to India by 1-3 goals in Siliguri, India.
