Jeweller murdered in Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM: Miscre-ants slaughtered a jeweller at Patiya upazila in the district on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Dhiman Dhar, 40, son of Dulal Dhar of Bonik Para under Dholghat union under the upazila.

Dhiman was the proprietor of "Soudia Jewellers" in the city’s Rahattarpol area.

According to sources, miscreants intercepted Dhiman's bike and blocked the road at Lorihora while he was returning to his village home around 11:30 pm.

The criminals hit Dhiman with a baton and took away his belongings after he fell on the road.     As he screamed for help, the miscreants slaughtered him with a sharp weapon and fled the scene.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Inspector (Investigation) Rashedul Islam of Patiya Police Station.

Police are trying to arrest the criminals. A case in this connection is under process, said the officer.
