Three-time Bangladesh Premier League champions Comilla Victorians made a request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to extend the franchise ownership deadline period so that they can apply for it.

Comilla missed the deadline (August 30) of submitting their expression of interest for the franchise ownership rights for the upcoming three editions of BPL after their owner was in two minds about whether to apply for it or not.

It was learnt that the Comilla owner finally decided to take part in the BPL and they sent a letter to the BCB for a time extension for the franchise ownership rights.

The decision on Comilla’s appeal is likely to be taken within one or two days.

Earlier, a total of nine interested parties dropped expression of interest for the franchise ownership rights for seven teams until August 30.

Rangpur Riders, backed by Bashundhara Group, applied during the stipulated time frame to make a return in the competition after the 2018-19 session while Beximco Group and Gemcon Group opted not to show their interest to participate in the tournament.
