Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said the BNP-Jamaat alliance has failed this time either and by boycotting elections again and again, the BNP has nothing to do but wait for the next five years.
“Today all their complaints are devoid of reality and baseless,” he said at a press conference at the party’s Tejgaon office in the capital.
The Awami League secured a landslide victory in the 12th national election on Sunday, paving the way for the party to form the government for the fourth consecutive term.
At the press conference, Quader said the people have given judgement against the defeated power of 1971 and the murderers of 1975. They have given a verdict against arson terrorists and the vested quarter, he said.
The Awami League leader urged the BNP to accept the truth and abide by the principles of democracy.
He said the party would implement the pledges made in the election manifesto. “A smart and prosperous Bangladesh will be built in the future. This election will be a milestone in the country's democratic journey.”
Quader said the party would hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on 10 January, marking Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Homecoming Day.
