Planning Minister MA Mannan on Wednesday said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dedicated his entire life to achieve the economic emancipation of the people of Bengal.

“Bangabandhu worked tirelessly so that the poor people of Bengal can be self-reliant. He not only dreamed but fought forever to build a country free from hunger and poverty,” MA Mannan said while addressing a discussion at Grameen Bank head office in the capital on Wednesday.

The private lender observed the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by recalling contributions of the great leader.

 National Human Rights Commission former chairman Mizanur Rahman and Grameen Bank Director Jasim Uddin were guests of honour while Chairman AKM Saiful Majid chaired the session.

Managing Director Abdur Rahim Khan made address of welcome.

There have been 1.55 crore saplings planted in various districts marking the National Mourning Day.

Earlier, some 13.86 crore fruit and forest tree saplings have been planted since last August 15, 2021.
