Saif humiliate Uttar Baridhara

Swadhinata KS relegated

Saif Sporting Club retained third place in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League points table after clinching a massive 7-0 goals win over Uttar Baridhara Club at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

Saif SC forward Maraz Hossain Opi and their Uzbek midfielder Asror Gafurov scored a brace each while their Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh, midfielder Rahim Uddin and defender Abid Ahmed netted one each to complete a gigantic victory over 11th place Uttar Baridhara side.

The match also witnessed as many as four red cards as Saif SC’s head coach Andres Cruciani and Uttar Baridhara’s player Sujon Biswas, team manager Noor hossain and assistant manager Jahangir Alam all were sent off.

Saif SC currently have 37 points to their name from 21 matches while Baridhara remain with their previous credit of 14 points.

Meanwhile, despite going 2-0 up inside 50 minutes, Swadhinata Krira Sangha played a 2-2 draw with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and confirmed their relegation to the next tier for the upcoming season.

Swadhinata forwards Iqbal Hussain and Zillur Rahman gave them a 2-0 lead after scoring one goal each in the 26th and 49th minute respectively at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

However, Sheikh Jamal’s Uzbek forward Otabek Valijonov and Nigerian forward Chijoke Alaekwe levelled the game after scoring one each in the 70th and added first minute of the second half respectively.

The draw result also confirmed Swadhinata’s relegation to the next tier for next season as they could only earn 10 points from 21 matches and they have only one match left in the ongoing competition.

Sheikh Jamal remained in fourth place with 35 points after the draw against Swadhinata.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd will take on Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society during their penultimate round match of the ongoing BPL in Munshiganj today.

In the day’s other two matches, Chattogram Abahoni Ltd will play against Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in Gopalganj while Bangladesh Police Football Club will host Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Muktijuddho Sriti Stadium in Rajshahi.

If Muktijoddha can beat Chattogram Abahoni, Uttar Baridhara will automatically be relegated to the next tier with one match still to be played in the ongoing meet.
