T means a new tiger is coming: Nasum

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed said that he carries the same mentality while bowling irrespective of formats.

The 27-year-old, who played 22 T20Is before making his debut against West Indies in the series opener, picked up his maiden man of the match award in only his second game when he finished with 3-19 from his allotted 10 overs.

Nasum was also very impressive on his debut game and despite failing to get any wicket, he ended with giving only 16 runs from eight overs after coming to open the bowling.

“My first plan is to bowl dot balls and because most of the time I bowl in the power plays and my plan is how to stop the flow of the run,” said Nasum.

“I got the wicket and for that, I’m feeling good. I was disappointed that I could not pick wickets in the opening game but that faded away as I could pick wickets in the second game.

“Look like the way I bowled in the power play there (in T20Is played in Mirpur), it was the same as I came to bowl in the power play and for me both looks to be the same,” he said, adding that his celebration that looked like he was asking the batsmen for a review had nothing to do with it.

“The celebration was not for review but it was like T and that is Tigers which means a new tiger is coming,” he said.

Nasum added that he does not have any competition with Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam, two seasoned left-arm spinners of the country, as he feels if someone performs, he will play.

“I don’t have any competition with anyone. Taijul bhai will play his game while I will play mine and at the end of the day whoever plays well, will play.

“I have no competition with Taijul bhai or Shakib bhai. Among us whoever will play better, will play and I feel performance is the same for everyone,” said Nasum, adding that all the members of the team like him.

“All of the members of the team like me and all of them make fun of me and laugh at me but I have got a very good bonding with everyone. Tamim bhai personally supports me a lot,” he added.
