The export-import activities between Bangladesh and India through Benapole Land Port was mired in a stalemate as transport owners on Wednesday called on an indefinite strike to press their three-point demand, including transfer of an official of the land port.
Azim Uddin Gazi, general secretary of Benapole Transport Agency Owners’ Association, came up with the announcement on Tuesday.
The demands include withdrawal of Benapole Land Port’s Deputy Director Mamun Kabir Tarafdar, appointing skilled drivers and keeping the port area free from traffic congestion.
Azim Uddin Gazi said, “Mamun Tarafdar has been involved in corruption and son we demand his removal.”
