The preliminary test for the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) was held on Friday.

The examination was held simultaneously in different centres of eight divisional cities -- Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh -- from 10:00am to 12:00pm. As per of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) notification, the candidates took their seats at their respective centres between 8:30am and 9:25am.

After visiting the situation of examination at Dhaka College centre at 11:00am, BPSC Chairman Sohrab Hossain said no unpleasant situations were reported.

“We have asked six sets of MCQ questions to avoid unpleasant incidents. Today at 9:30 am, the set has been selected through lottery and sent to the center,” the BPSC chairman added.

He also said that while selecting set they always organise a lottery in the presence of two dignitaries. This year the lottery was conducted in presence of Prof Dr Shawkat Ali and daily Jugantor editor Saiful Alam. A total of 350,716 candidates applied for the test contrary to 1,710 posts. It means some 205 candidates are contesting for each seat in the 44th BCS.
