Bashundhara Group and East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Bashundhara Group Managing Director and Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir have expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of renowned journalist, lyricist and author Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury.
In a message of condolence, the Bashundhara Group Chairman recalled the contributions of the Language Movement hero, prayed for salvation of his departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
In a separate message of condolence, Bashundhara Group MD and BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir said Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury’s contribution to journalism of Bangladesh is unforgettable. “The role of his writings in establishing the honour of our Bangla language and different phases of our struggle for freedom is remarkable.” “His ‘Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February’ is an immortal creation. During the Liberation War, his weekly Joybangla inspired the freedom fighters immensely. Bangladesh has lost a patriotic penman with his death,” he added.
The BAJUS President prayed for salvation of his departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
