Businessmen at the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall’s mobile market have hailed Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan as an “iconic business person”, recognising his visionary leadership and contributions to the business community.

At an event marking Ahmed Akbar Sobhan’s birthday on Saturday, traders organised a cake-cutting ceremony and prayer session at the shopping mall in Panthapath, Dhaka.

“Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan has created a thriving business environment for us. We see him as an ideal businessman—honest, courageous and future-focused,” said Mohammad Aslam, president of Bashundhara City’s Mobile Business Community Bangladesh.

He added that Bashundhara City has become the top destination for mobile phone buyers due to its safe and organised shopping experience.

Born on 15 February 1952 in Dhaka, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan hails from a distinguished family. His father, Alhaj Abdus Sobhan, was a senior lawyer and an All-India swimming champion.

A Business Management graduate from the University of Dhaka, Sobhan was known for his athleticism and leadership skills during his student years.

His entrepreneurial vision has played a crucial role in shaping Bangladesh’s business landscape, earning him widespread respect and admiration.
