At least three people, including a father and his son, were killed in separate road accidents in Pirojpur and Chandpur districts on Saturday and Friday.
In Pirojpur, a van driver was killed in a road accident in the district on Saturday, reports UNB.
Delwar died after his van was hit by a tractor trolley on a bridge near Zila Parishad Market in Pirojpur's Bhandaria upazila in the morning. He died on the spot, said Bhandaria Police Station OC Masumur Rahman Biswas. "The body has been sent to the local hospital morgue for autopsy. The killer vehicle has been seized and efforts are on to arrest its driver," the OC said.
In Chandpur, a man and his son were killed after a pick-up van hit them on the Chandpur-Comilla regional highway at Balakhal Bazar in Hajiganj on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Zillur Rahman, 46, and son Bayezid, 8, hailing from Srinagar village in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
The accident occurred around 9:00pm when they were crossing the road in Balakhal Bazar and the pick-up hit them, leaving father and son dead on the spot, said Jobayer Syed, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station. They were rushed to the upazila health complex where the attending doctors declared them dead.
Police seized the pickup. However, the driver managed to flee, he added.
