Participation of Bangladeshi pilgrims in Hajj depends on agreement

Participation of Bangladeshi pilgrims in this year’s Hajj depends on a bilateral Hajj agreement between the governments of Bangladesh and the Saudi Arabia.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan told parliament on Wednesday while responding to a written question from ruling party MP Benazir Ahmed.

“If the bilateral Hajj agreement is executed, it will be clear that how many people from Bangladesh will get the opportunity to perform Hajj this year,” he said.

Stating that Bangladesh is in close contact with the Saudi government in this regard, he said, “We are hopeful that the pious Muslims of Bangladesh will be able to perform the holy Hajj this year, Insha Allah.”

Responding to another question of Noakhali-3 MP Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Faridul Haque Khan said that licenses of 4 Hajj agencies have been canceled in the last five years and 36 Hajj agencies have been fined over Tk 43 lakh for irregularities.
