National dance festival begins at Shilpakala

A 3-day dance festival titled ‘National Dance Festival 2022’ began at National theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Thursday.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the festival as the chief guest. Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha President Minu Haque, BSA Secretary Md. Asaduzzaman, BSA Music, Dance and Recitation Department Director Kazi Aftab Uddin Hablu, among others, were present at the inaugural ceremony as special guest. BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the programme. 

A total of 75 dance troupes with over one thousand artistes are being participating at the mega dance event.

Through this event BSA is patronising 75 dance troupes. Among the dance troupes, 50 have been provided with financial assistance of TK 1 lakh and remaining 25 troupes with TK 80,000 each.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has been celebrating golden jubilee of country’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman since the beginning of 2021. BSA has arranged the dance festival as part of these celebrations.
