20 to receive IVD volunteer award

A total of 20 volunteers will be presented with ‘IVD Bangladesh Volunteer Award 2021’ at an event titled ‘Volunteering Contributions towards Community Development in Bangladesh’ at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka today.  

The volunteers will be given the award for playing amazing role in community development.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, UNV Bangladesh, UNFPA, VSO and WaterAid are jointly organising several events, marking International Volunteer Day- 2021 today while the main event will be held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.

The theme of this year’s volunteer day is ‘Volunteer now for our common future’.

UNV Bangladesh, together with UNDP and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, is also going to honour 20 Champion UN Volunteers in the country this year for the first time.

LGRD Minister Md Tazul Islam will attend the event as the chief guest while Tuomo Poutiainen, UN Resident Coordinator a.i., Bangladesh, Shalina Miah, Regional Manager, Asia and the Pacific (virtually) and Md Akhter Hossain, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, will join the event as the special guests.

Md Aktar Uddin, Country Coordinator, UNV Bangladesh, Dr Eiko Narita Representative a.i., UNFPA Bangladesh, Mohammad Nora Alam Siddique, Joint Secretary, PS to the Minister of LGRDC, Salahuddin Ahmed, Business Pursuit Lead, VSO Bangladesh, Partha Hefaz Shaikh, Director – Policy and Advocacy, WaterAid Bangladesh, will also speak at the event.
