The country’s coronavirus situation remains stable for last few weeks as the numbers of infections and deaths declined in the last 24 hours.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 196 infection cases were detected and 3 patients died of the deadly pathogen in the last 24hours till Friday morning.
For the 32nd consecutive day the country reported daily positivity rate below 3 percent. The infection rate was below 4 percent for 37 days in a row and below 5 percent for last 46 consecutive days. The number of daily cases was reported below 500 for last 23 days in a row.
During the second wave of the coronavirus infection, the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
The number of total infections has risen to 15,70,681 with the overall positivity rate 15.04 percent. Some 17,446 samples were tested in the last 24 hours to detect the infection cases.
The national death toll has increased to 27,890 with a case fatality rate of 1.78 per cent. The number of death remains below 10 for last 19 consecutive days.
At the same time, the recovery rate continued to improve in the country reaching 97.70 percent with the recuperation of a good number of Covid-19 patients every day.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
