Bangladesh U-23 football team will begin their AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifying campaign today when they take on their Kuwait counterparts in a Group D match at JAR Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The match is scheduled to start at 04:00pm Bangladesh Standard Time.

Ahead of the match, Bangladesh team completed their last practice session at Bunyodhor FC Academy Training Ground 7 in Tashkent on Tuesday.

Bangladesh’s interim coach Maruful Haque expressed his confidence in winning the match during the pre-match press conference.

“We came here with four-week preparation. We know our competitors are higher than us in FIFA rankings. But we believe we can perform better,” Maruful said.

“If we can play as per the strategy and tactics, we will win. We are very much confident of winning our first match against a strong Kuwait side. My boys are mentally and physically prepared to take this challenge,” he added.

Bangladesh U-23 team captain Tutul Hossain Badsha said that they would give 100 percent in the field against Kuwait.

“We know our opponents are good and strong but we are ready for the match. We will try to give 100 percent. All of our players are well prepared and ready to play tomorrow,” he said.

Hosts Uzbekistan U-23 team will face Saudi Arabia in the day’s other match.
