BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s condition improved and she was doing better on Tuesday a day after she underwent a biopsy at the Evercare Hospital in the capital.

“She (Khaleda) is now better than yesterday (Monday). Her physicians allowed her to take soft and liquid foods today (Tuesday),” Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of her medical board told the Daily Sun.

Earlier on Monday, Dr Zahid said, “A small lump has developed in her body. That’s why a biopsy was performed to examine the lump. The lump is only around 1-1.5 centimetre in length. After the biopsy, a genetic study will be required for diagnosis.” Khaleda’s lump biopsy was performed around 1:00pm on Monday and then she was taken to the ICU of the hospital. Later, she was shifted to the cabin at 6:15pm the same day.

Dr Zahid further said it will take time to get the biopsy report. ‘We will get the biopsy report after the genetic study.”

He also said Khaleda’s next treatment depends on the biopsy report, which might take 15 to 21 days.

The BNP chief was brought to Evercare Hospital on October 12 as she was suffering from fever for a few days.

She was admitted to the hospital for treatment and diagnosis as per her doctors' advice.

Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital under a medical board led by Dr Shahabuddin Talukder.
