Bangladesh U-19 team failed to hold their nerves once again as they conceded a four-run defeat against their Sri Lankan counterparts in the fifth and last youth one day international to suffer a clean sweep at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla on Monday.

Chasing a modest target of 241 runs, the junior Tigers were in a dominating position until the end of the 47th over of their innings as they only required 18 runs from the final three overs with six wickets in their hands to avoid the whitewash humiliation.

However, they miserably failed to complete the easy task by losing all their remaining wickets to bowl out for 236 runs in the final ball of their innings.

Mahfijul Islam and Aich Mollah struck 62 and 55 runs respectively in their innings.

Earlier, Sri Lankan opener Chamindu Wickramasinghe struck 102 off 123 balls while Shevon Daniel made 59 runs as the hosts posted 240-9 in their stipulated overs after electing to bat first.

Bangladesh team, which ended their Sri Lanka tour with empty hands, is expected to return home today.
