Women play crucial role in Bangladesh dev: BGMEA

Women have made significant contribution to the socio-economic transformation of Bangladesh that took place over the last 50 years since independence in 1971, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan said.

He made this observation while addressing a program as a special guest organised by Women and e-Commerce (WE) in the capital recently.

Faruque Hassan said that women are making their marks in different fields including politics, government, business, and service.

Bangladesh has immense opportunity to grow further where women have great role to play, he added.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen attended the programme as chief guest.

Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and former State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki were present as special guests.

Director of Giant Group Sharmeen Hassan Tithi also attended the event as a guest of honor.
