The country’s coronavirus situation has improved further as the daily infection rate has dropped below 2 percent for two consecutive days.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the country has reported 16 deaths and 314 infections from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Sunday.
For the 13th consecutive day, the country reported daily positivity rate below 3 per cent. The infection rate was below 4 percent for 18 days in a row and below 5 percent for last 27 consecutive days.
The DGHS data said the daily infection rate started declining from the ending of the last month.
During the second wave of the coronavirus infection, the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
The number of total infections has risen to 15,65,174 with the overall positivity rate 15.53 percent.
The number of death in a day remains below 50 for last 31 days in row and below 40 for 28 consecutive days with the declining of the infection and casualty simultaneously in the country.
At the same time, the recovery rate continued to improve in the country reaching 97.60 percent with the recuperation of a good number of Covid-19 patients every day.
As many as 529 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total number of recoveries to 15,27,862.
The DGHS said the coronavirus situation is the worst in the capital as the highest corona deaths and infections were registered in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours.
Of the 16 fresh deaths, 7 were reported in Dhaka division, 3 in Chattogram and two each in Rajshahi, Khulna and Mymensigh divisions.
Of the 314 new cases, 208 were logged in Dhaka division while 3 in Mymensingh, 61 in Chattogram, 15 in Rajshahi, 8 in Rangpur, 10 in Khulna, 3 in Barishal and 6 in Sylhet division.
