Bashundhara LPG-sponsored ‘Chandrabati Kotha’ gets huge response

‘Chandrabati Kotha’ which has been made with the financial assistance of the Bashundhara LPG is getting a huge response from the audience after it was released on Friday.

The movie has been made under the banner of Mangrove Pictures and Bengal Creations, said a press release on Saturday.

The movie is now being screened at Star Cineplex at Bashundhara City, Simanta Sambar, Dhanmondi, Sony Square, Mirpur, SKS Tower, Mohakhali, Jamuna Blockbuster and Cinescope in Narayanganj.

The audience has echoed positive on artistry of the movie is attractive in terms of making, story, background and dramatic presentation.

They have mentioned that such a good film can uphold Bangladesh in the global arena.

 The movie focuses on the life of Chandrabati as well as portrays different social aspects.

‘Chandrabati Kotha’ got clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on February 26 this year after it got stuck in the censor board for almost one year.

Directed by N Rashed Chowdhury, the story of the film revolves with the elegiac life of Chandrabati, a 16th century woman poet of Bengali language. She is best known for her women-centered epic Ramayana. Her father Dijabangshi Das was also a poet. Chandrabati falls in love with another poet, Jayananda. But he leaves her for another woman. Heartbroken Chandrabati confine herself inside a Shiva temple and start rewriting the Ramayana.

Although it is a government-funded movie, Bashundhara LPG came forward to support the makers three years back.

Officials informed that Bashundhara LPG engages different cultural activities and makes impact investment. To bring back the golden era of Bangladeshi films, the Bashundhara Group tried to contribute in ‘Chandrabati Kotha’.Bashundhara LPG authorities believe that the effort to the movie will success when the people enjoy the film in-person in theatre.

Earlier, the premiere show of the film was held on Tuesday last. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan attended the programme as the chief guest while film makers, Nasiruddin Yousuff and Morshedul Islam were present at the premiere show.
