Youth held on fraud charge in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Police arrested a youth on charge of his involvement in a fraudulent case with a young girl for a long time.

The detained person identified as Wadud Zia Jewel, 30, son of Jakaria Ansary, a resident of Baghadubi Bhawanipur village under Nawabganj Upazila in Dinajpur district, grabbed Taka 7.5 lakh from the girl alluring her to marry and give job.

He grabbed the huge money through bkash accounts convincing the girl tactically after using around seven fake facebook IDs.

After receiving a complaint from the girl, a Detective Branch team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) conducted a sudden raid in Mokbul Halder crossing under Boalia Police Station in the city and arrested him last night.

RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddque elaborated the case story while addressing a press briefing on the issue at his office conference hall on Wednesday.

He told the journalists that the detained man obtained BBA and MBA degrees from the Department of Management in Rajshahi University.

He also urged the public in general to remain alert related to the fraud gang as many of the innocent people have lost money and social dignity and image after being trapped by the fraudsters.

A case has been lodged with Boalia Model Police Station under Digital Security Law in this connection and the arrested person was handed over to police this noon.
