Two more died of dengue infection and 207 people were infected with the virus during the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

The number of dengue fatality has been increasing day by day in the country as the total number of deaths from the disease has neared 80 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 207 more dengue patients were hospitalised while two deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

It said 2139 dengue patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 dengue patients were hospitalised in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in the last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August, 23 in September and 9 deaths have been reported in the current month October, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 162 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 45 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.
