Dhaka Stock Exchange fell on Monday as investors went on selling spree to book profits as a safe move.
DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 22.43 points or 0.30 per cent to settle at 7,345 points.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, also declined to Tk 18.49 billion on the prime bourse, which was 5.82 per cent lower than the previous day’s tally of Tk 19.63 billion.
Losers took a strong lead over the gainers, as out of 376 issues traded, 259 closed lower, 97 higher and 20 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
A total of 255,805 trades were executed in the day’s trading session with a trading volume of 404.39 million shares and mutual fund units.
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the day’s turnover chart with shares of Tk 1.38 billion changing hands, closely followed by Orion Pharma, Beximco, IFIC, Power Grid Company and British American Tobacco bangladesh Company Limited.
Shepherd Industries Limited was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.65 per cent, closely followed by Kattali Textile Limited, Aman Feed Limited, Orion Pharma Ltd, ACI Formulations Limited, Gemini Sea Food Ltd, GQ Ball Pen Industries Ltd, ACI Limited and Eastern Lubricants Ltd.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended marginally higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI –gaining 27 points to settle at 21,488 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX – rising 16 points to close at 12,904.
Of the issues traded, 190 declined, 99 advanced and 21 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city’s bourse traded 19.84 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 723 million.
