Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said efforts are underway to bring back acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, a fugitive convict in the August 21 grenade attack case.
He has also said there is scope of taking action against the cyber terrorists as per the Digital Security Act (DSA).
Asked whether there is any legal bar to taking action against the cyber terrorists who have been carrying out anti-state propaganda in various ways staying abroad, he said, “We can take action (against the cyber terrorists) as per the Digital Security Act. Because, we’ve made the Digital Security Act in a bid to combat cybercrimes.” About bringing back Tarique, Anisul said, “We’re carrying out all types of efforts to bring back fugitive criminals, including Tarique Rahman.”
The cyber criminals are spreading propaganda against Bangladesh, the Awami League government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and their family members using various social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.
They are engaged in tarnishing the country’s image, obstructing socioeconomic development and destroying mills and industries.
They are also criticising the War of Liberation and serving the purpose of war criminals, BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami and anti-state elements.
