A teacher of Hamchhadi Kazirdighirpar Alim Madrasah in Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district has cut the locks of hair of six students amid the controversy created over the forced haircut of 14 students of Rabindra University in Sirajganj recently.
Students alleged that the madrasah’s assistant teacher and local Jamaat leader Manjurul Kabir Monju lined up six students of class X and cut their hair with scissors at the verandah of the madrasah on Wednesday.
The aggrieved students said that when they were attending classes on Wednesday, their teacher Manjurul Kabir asked six of them to stand up and come to the verandah of the classroom. Thereafter he cut the hairs of the students with a scissors. The humiliated student soon left the classes in disgrace. The accused teacher refused to make any comment in this regard.
"I am sick. I heard about the haircut. No student submitted any written complaint yet. Necessary steps will be taken in this regard," said Maulana Balakat Ullah, superintendent of Hamchhadi Kazirdighirpar Alim Madrasa.
Raipur Upazila Secondary Education Officer AKM Saiful Haque said, "I came to know about the incident. No one complained. Legal action will be taken if we get specific allegations."
Earlier, Rabindra University teacher Farhana Yasmin Baten cut off the hair of 14 examinees with scissors while they were entering a classroom to sit for their final exam on September 26.
