Two national records on day one

Ansar swimmer Mukti Khatun and BKSP swimmer Amirul Islam created two new national records on the opening day of Bangabandhu 34th Age-level Swimming and Diving competition at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Sunday.

Mukti, who took 1:22.28min to make a new record in 100m breaststroke of the U-18/20 girls as she beat BKSP swimmer Khajida Akter's timing of 1:23.71min.

Amirul beat another BKSP swimmer Rabiul Islam’s 1:06.28 min record as he finished his 100m backstroke event in 1:04.30min in the U-18/20 boys category.

Meanwhile, a total of 36 events took place on the first day. BKSP led the points table with 17 gold, 20 silver and 14 bronze medals followed by Ansar who bagged seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals.   Bangladesh Swimming Federation President Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal earlier

inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
