AL to win next election, says Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday hoped that his party would win the next election.

“Awami League will win the next election due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s honesty and patriotism,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing a discussion organized by Sheikh Russell Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad marking the 75th birthday of AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at National Museum in the capital. The minister said that the integrity and courage of the premier is the magic of development and achievements of the incumbent government.

“All should say no to the wrongdoers and corrupt people in the country’s politics. The detained democracy was unchained in the country because of the relentless struggle of Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

“All has to take lessons from the honesty and ideology of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Meritorious people should join politics, otherwise it would be devoid of merits,” he added.

About the movement threat of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Quader said countrymen will not respond to BNP’s call for movement given from the bank of Thames River in London.

Noting that the BNP’s movement will not get momentum at all, the minister said, “Awami League knows what and how many types of movement. So, it will not bring any result showing the fear of movement to Awami League.”

“BNP will do nothing in the future as they failed to do anything in the last 12 years. Their politics has been confined in statements,” he said.

Mentioning that the number of dishonest people has increased in the political arena of the country, Quader said, “Characterless and dishonest politicians have already destroyed the politics of the country. Honest, brave and charismatic people have to join politics.”

Chaired by chairman of Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad Rakibur Rahman, the meeting was attended, among others, by AL advisory council member Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Parishad secretary general KM Shahidullah and its advisers Tarafdar Md Ruhul Amin and Sirajul Islam Mollah.
