The country continued to witness a gradual fall in the case positivity rate of coronavirus with 4.36 percent reported in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.
With this, the daily infection rate remained below 5 percent for seven consecutive days.
However, both deaths and infections from the virus have seen a slight rise as 25 fatalities and 1,212 cases were reported over the past 24-hour period.
Earlier, 21 virus casualties and 980 infections were logged in the country on Sunday.
In total, the number of infections has risen to 1,552,563 with an overall positivity rate 16.09 percent while the death toll has reached 27,439 with a case fatality rate of 1.77 percent.
According to health experts, the Covid-19 situation is considered under control if the positivity rate remains below 5 percent for two consecutive weeks.
After the invasion of the Delta variant of virus, the infection rate continued to swell in the country reaching the peak at 32.55 percent on July 24 last.
At the same time, the recovery rate continued to improve in the country reaching 97.43 percent with the recuperation of some 1,202 more Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries has jumped to 1,512,681.
Highest corona deaths and infections in the last 24 hours were registered in Dhaka division.
Of the 25 fresh deaths, nine were reported in Dhaka division while eight in Chattogram, three in Khulna and Sylhet divisions each and two in Rangpur division. Three other divisions -- Rajshahi, Barishal and Mymensingh – registered no deaths during the period.
Of the 1212 new cases, 920 were logged in Dhaka division while 36 in Mymensingh, 93 in Chattogram, 35 in Rajshahi, 33 in Rangpur, 65 in Khulna, 17 in Barishal and 13 in Sylhet division.
A total of 27,787 samples were tested at 821 labs in the country during the period. With this, 9,646,937 samples have so far been tested across the country.
