The lone Youth Test between Bangladesh U-19 team and their Afghan counterparts is heading towards an exciting finish after the hosts took a 51-run lead at the end of the third day’s play in Sylhet on Friday.
Opener Prantik Nawrose Nabil struck 76 off 166 balls while skipper Aich Mollah made 40 not out as Bangladesh team made 170-4 in their second innings at stumps of the penultimate day’s play at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh, who sustained a massive 119-run deficit in the first innings, got a blow in the first over of their second innings after Iftikher Hossain was dismissed on a duck.
Prantik then put up two vital stands of 57 and 91 runs along with Khalid Hasan (20) and Aich for the second and third wicket stands respectively to help his team take lead in the match.
Afghan left-arm spinner Nangeyalia Kharote (2-22) took two quick wickets in the last hour of the day’s play and made the game evenly poised before the final day. Bangladesh earlier made 162 runs in their first innings.
