Exhibition ‘Scorched Lives at Hashem Foods’ extended

Photo exhibition ‘Scorched Lives at Hashem Foods’ has been extended till October 7. The exhibition opened at the gallery of Drik Path Bhaban at Panthapath in the capital on September 4.  

The exhibition is showcasing a total of 36 photographs taken during and after a devastating fire that took place at Hashem Foods Factory in Narayanganj on July 8. Drik photographers Suman Paul, Istiak Karim, Parvez Ahmad and Shahidul Alam are participating at the exhibition. In addition, as a testimony to the brutal killing, the exhibition features pictures, stories, and items of the 54 victim workers.

 Following the Covid-19 health safety guidelines, the exhibition will remain open from 3:00pm to 8:00pm every day.

A devastating fire broke out at the six-story building of the Hashem Foods Factory on July 8, 2021. The fire claimed 54 lives and most of the victims were trapped on the third floor as its only exit was locked while a few died after jumping off the factory.
