The dormitories of Dhaka University (DU) will reopen on October 5 for the honors final-year and master's students who have received at least first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Besides, the libraries of the university will open on September 26.

The decision was made at a syndicate meeting of the university held on Saturday with Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

The students can enter their halls from 8:00 am on the day after showing their vaccination cards and valid university identity cards.

The residential halls for honours 1st, 2nd and 3rd-year students will be opened in phases after ensuring vaccination.

Only regular residential students will be accommodated in accordance with the hygiene rules. Cooperation from all concerned including active student organisations is expected to maintain a congenial learning environment on the campus, it added.

The university has taken an initiative to set up a vaccination center at DU Medical Center.

Students who have not yet registered for vaccination have been asked to register by September 27 using National Identity Card or Birth Registration Certificate and get vaccinated.
