Evaly chairman, CEO placed on 3-day remand

Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also chairman of the group, were taken on a three-day remand each in a case filed for embezzlement of money.

Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order on Friday afternoon when they were produced before his court seeking 10 days remand for each of them.

Gulshan Police Station's Sub-Inspector Md Ohidul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the petition.

On Thursday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them on charges of embezzlement as thousands of consumers expressed worry if they would get their money or products they had paid for.

The arrests came hours after Arif Baker, an aggrieved consumer, accused Rassel, Nasrin and several unnamed individuals involved in the company's finance management of embezzlement in a case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
