Two senior police officers, including Additional DIG of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sheikh Omar Faruque, have been sent on forced retirement.

Another officer is Mohammad Abdur Rahim, superintendent of police (SP) and commander of APBn-6 at Mahalchhari in Khagrachhari. A circular, signed by Dhananjoy Kumar Das, deputy secretary (Police-1) of Public Security Division under Home Ministry, was issued in this regard on Thursday.

“As they have completed 25 years in job, they have been sent on retirement under the Public Service Act-2018 in the public interest,” the circular said.

“They will get all the retirement related facilities as per the rules,” it said. But the reasons for their retirement have not been mentioned in the circular.

Of the duo, Omar Faruque was supervising the investigation into the cases filed against Dhallywood heroine Porimoni, suspended Awami League leader Helena Jahangir, models Piyasa and Mou, and some other people recently arrested over drugs, cheating, pornography and blackmailing-related charges.
