RANGPUR: One patient of Thakurgaon died of corona during the last 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Monday, the lowest number of casualties in the last three months, in Rangpur division.
“With the one new casualty, the total number of fatalities rose to 1,188 in the division where the corona situation continues improving in recent weeks,” said Focal Person of the corona and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.
“The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division,” Dr Siddiqui said.
Meanwhile, the number of corona cases reached 53,017 as 103 new patients were diagnosed after testing 883 samples of Rangpur division at the positivity rate of 11.66 percent on Sunday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 12.60 percent on Saturday, 18.44 percent on Friday, 18.58 percent on Thursday, 17.62 percent on Wednesday, 12.01 percent on Tuesday and 11.54 percent on Monday last in the division.
“The district-wise break up of 53,017 patients stands at 12,086 in Rangpur, 3,479 in Panchagarh, 4,304 in Nilphamari, 2,659 in Lalmonirhat, 4,506 in Kurigram, 7,170 in Thakurgaon, 14,152 in Dinajpur and 4,661 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of 2,55,287 collected samples were tested till Sunday, and of them, 53,017 were found corona positive with an average positivity rate of 20.77 percent in the division.
The 47,401 recovered patients include 9,701 of Rangpur, 3,130 Panchagarh, 4,016 Nilphamari, 2,389 Lalmonirhat, 4,191 Kurigram, 6,193 Thakurgaon, 13,650 in Dinajpur and 4,131 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 53,017 patients, 212 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 22 critical patients at ICU beds and 10 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 47,401 patients and 1,188 deaths while 4,367 are remaining in home isolation.
“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the corona vaccine rose to 18,92,533 and among them, 7,66,324 got the second dose of the jab till Sunday in the division,” Dr Islam added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged all to abide by the health directives to maintain the improving trend of the corona situation.
