Govt working for women’s empowerment, says Sujon

PANCHAGARH: Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for the development and empowerment of women.

“The government is creating opportunities for women empowerment and bringing economic solvency to their families. Manifold steps have been taken for women development,” he said.

The minister was addressing a sewing machine distribution function at his Mohajonpara residence in Boda upazila of the district on Wednesday on the occasion of 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib as the chief guest, reports BSS.

A total of 50 sewing machines were distributed among helpless and distressed women of Boda and Debiganj upazila.

He said the sewing machines would help to bring economic solvency for the women.

Boda upazila chairman Faruk Alam Tobi, UNO of Boda Md Solayman Ali, Pouro Mayor Ohahiduzzaman Suja, Women Affairs Officer Ohahiduzzaman, Debiganj upazila Awami League president and general secretary Gias Uddin Chowdhury and Hasnat Zaman Chowdhury Jarje, among others, were present.
