Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Hadis Uddin has died of coronavirus.

He died at about 12.30pm on Saturday at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital in the capital while underwent treatment.

Mohammad Hadis Uddin left behind his wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. The body of former IGP was buried at Banani graveyard in the capital after Asar prayers.

Mohammad Hadis Uddin was born in a respectable Muslim family at village Mendipur under Khaliajuri upazila in Netrokona district in 1949. An officer belonging to the 1973 batch, Mohammad Hadis Uddin served as the IGP from April 7, 2005 to May 7, 2005.

IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed has expressed his profound shock at the death of former IGP Mohammad Hadis Uddin. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
