A Dhaka court on Thursday placed four people, including film actress Porimoni and film producer Nazrul Islam Raz, on a four-day remand each in two cases filed with Banani Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order when Sub-inspector Sheikh Sohel Rana, also investigation officer of the cases, produced them before the court, seeking a seven-day remand each in the two cases.
Opposing the remand petitions, defence lawyers submitted bail petitions for the accused but the court rejected the pleas after hearing.
Meanwhile, RAB spokesperson Commander Khandaker Al Moin at a press briefing at RAB headquarters in the capital on Thursday said the Dhallywood heroine set up a ‘mini bar’ at her flat illegally and sometimes arranged ‘DJ parties’ there.
A number of people, including film producer Nazrul Islam Raz, attended the DJ parties, said Moin, director (Legal and Media Wing) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
He said, “Porimoni has been addicted to alcohol since 2016. Alcohol of various foreign brands was recovered from her flat. She regularly drank wine. She set a mini bar at the flat to meet the demand of her excessive drink.”
“She arranged DJ parties there. Raz and many other people took part in the parties. Raz and some others supplied the alcohol to her mini bar,” he said. “During primarily interrogation, Porimoni mentioned the names of those who used to take part in the parties. We are scrutinising her information. If it is found to be true, legal action will be taken against the participants,” he said.
Besides, none can keep huge amount of alcohol, which the force men recovered from the film actress’ flat, he said. He revealed that they recovered 139 local and foreign bottles alcohol from her residence.
On the biography of the heroine, the RAB director said that after passing HSC from a college at Bhandaria in Pirojpur, Shamsunnahar alias Smritimoni alias Porimoni, 26, came to the capital. She began her showbiz carrier acting on a film as heroine in 2014.
She so far acted on 30 cinemas and five to seven TBCs, the officer said, adding that Raz had an important role in making her actress. On the arrest of Porimoni and Raz, Moin described that they captured Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan and Masudul Islam alias Jisan from Vatara area on Tuesday.
During first and foremost interrogation, the duo gave the elite force information on Porimoni and Raz.
Later, the RAB men raided the houses of Porimoni and Raz at Banani and arrested them on Wednesday night.
On the film producer Raz, the spokesperson of the RAB said that he passed Dakhil from a Khulna madrasa in 1989 and completed graduation from the capital.
