Holders Bashundhara Kings returned to winning ways when they defeated Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-0 goals in their 19th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League football match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Wednesday.

Latin trios scored one goal each that helped the Kings to get the victory. Brazilian forward Robson Azevedo da Silva Robinho, Argentine forward Raul Oscar Becerra and Brazilian midfielder Jonathan da Silveira Fernandes Reis netted one goal each in the 20th, 55th and 78th minutes.

Kings lost their previous match against Chattogram Abahani Limited by 1-2 goals on July 18 that forced them to end their 22-match unbeaten run in the ongoing domestic league. The victory against Muktijoddha will boost the holders ahead of their AFC Cup campaign in the Maldives in the middle of this month.

With the feat, Kings remained at the top of the table with 52 points from 17 wins, a draw and a defeat. On the other hand, Muktijoddha also remained 11th with their previous credit of 14 points from 3 wins, 5 draws and 10 defeats.

In the day’s other match, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 3-0 goals at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.

Nigerian forward Ugochukwu Obi Moneke, Tajik defender Siyovush Asrorov and Uzbek midfielder Bakhtiyar Duyshobekov scored one goal each in the 34th, 80th and 94th (injury time) minutes.

After the win, Sheikh Russel climbed up to 6th with 30 points 9 wins, 3 draws and 7 defeats while Arambagh remained at the bottom with 5 points from a win, 2 draws and 15 defeats. Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd will take on Police Football Club in the day’s lone match today at the BNS at 4:00pm.

Mohammedan are currently 5th with 32 points from 9 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats while Police are 8th with 18 points from 4 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats.
