Dhaka Theatre completes 48 years

Dhaka Theatre, one of the leading theatre troupes of the country, has completed 48 years of its journey in recent times.  

To mark its 48th founding anniversary, the theatre troupe organised a celebration programme virtually on Thursday.

 Dhaka Theatre president Nasiruddin Yousuff, general secretary Kamal Bayezid, theatre activists Afzal Hossain, Raisul Islam Asad, Shahiduzzaman Selim and Subhasish Bhowmik, among others, reminisced Dhaka Theatre’s 48-year journey.

Dhaka Theatre began its journey on July 29 in 1973 by staging two plays, namely Sangbad Cartoon, written by Selim Al Deen, and Samrat O Pratidwandigan, written by Habibul Hasan . Both of the plays were directed by Nasiruddin Yousuff.

Many leading theatre activists, including, artistes Raisul Islam Asad, Afzal Hossain, Humayun Faridi, Shahiduzzaman Selim and others acted in plays produced by Dhaka Theatre.
