Italy is interested in investing some EUR€200 million in various sectors, including rural infrastructure and communication development, safe drinking water and sewerage management.

The topic came up at a meeting between Italian ambassador to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tazul Islam at the latter’s secretariat office in the capital on Sunday.

Giving thanks to the Italian government, Tazul said, “Bangladesh government is committed to ensuring the civic amenities of the urban area in the rural area of the country. Keeping this in mind, the government is implementing ‘Amar Gram, Amar Sohor’ project on priority basis.”

Putting emphasis on bilateral relations and trade, the minister said the relations between the two countries will reach a new height in future and will be more cemented.

Showing deep respect for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Italian envoy said Bangladesh is moving forward with indomitable pace under the leadership of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He also mentioned that Bangladesh has a huge prospect ahead.
